Morningstar Memory Café by Senior Solutions Celebrates 5-Year Anniversary

We recently celebrated the 5th Anniversary of the Morningstar Memory Café by Senior Solutions — the longest-running free Memory Café in the Lehigh Valley! Regular participants, volunteers, staff, and special guests gathered to mark this meaningful milestone.

The event opened with remarks from Mollie Santee, Executive Director of the Morningstar Living Foundation and one of the Café’s founders. Rev. Melissa Johnson, President of the Eastern District Moravian Church, offered an invocation. Susan Capobianco, Executive Director of Morningstar Living, shared reflections on the wonderful experiences and connections made over the past five years. Volunteer David Monaghan offered a heartfelt perspective as a caregiver who once attended the Memory Café with his wife. He described the Café as “a godsend” during his caregiving journey. After his wife moved to Moravian Hall Square, David missed the camaraderie and returned as a volunteer to remain part of the group and help others impacted by dementia.

Adding to the joy of the celebration, the Therapeutic Arts Group provided lively music that had participants on their feet dancing and singing along. It was a wonderful reminder of the power of music to bring people together.

The anniversary celebration was a time to reflect on the impact of the past five years and the many friendships formed along the way.

Held twice monthly at Advent Moravian Church in Bethlehem, the Memory Café has become a cherished resource for individuals living with memory loss and their care partners across the Greater Lehigh Valley. Hundreds of households have found support and fellowship through the Café’s programs, outings, educational seminars, music, wellness activities, and more.
